jx03 pitchbend

jx03 pitchbend

Hi,

i recently purchased a nord electro5d keyboard and was looking for a small portable synth to complement it.
the idea is to use the keybed of the nord in split mode and use the jx03 on the upper part of the keyboard via midi.

i was wondering if it is possible in this configuration to use the jx03 to pitch bend the sound ( my keyboard doesn't come with it).

also I'm after some nice lead and analogue retro sounds mainly as it'll be played in the upper part of the keyboard.

do you think would the jx03 be alright for me?

many thanks
Luca

The JX-03 is a good synth to get quick sounds out of - as you can see from the other topic about the JX-03 being under-rated it seems that everyone actually holds it in somewhat the highest regard out of the 3 available! (Me included).

As for using the JX-03 as the pitch bend I'm not sure... you would wanna make sure that you only accept certain midi commands on the nord, fear that turning the cutoff on the JX-03 might turn down the cutoff on your nord. I'm not familiar with your synth so couldn't say. If all else fails just get an external midi jog controller for your keyboard (I'm not sure if this exists as an actual product, but it would be an easy and cheap arduino build!).

Worse case scenario you'll just have the pitch bend working on just the JX-03 sound if you set CC send to 1 - No Output (see 1.1 additional manual - https://static.roland.com/assets/media/pdf/JP-08_JU-06_JX-03_l_ver110_e01_W.pdf).

Many thanks, it seems it ticks all the boxes for me, will probably get it soon!
