Can anyone help with an explanation on what the following mean from the manual?

MANUAL + [3]
Selecting [1] thru [4] sets the scale of the Step Sequencer.
I can hear it makes the notes play quicker but why is this called scale as opposed to tempo, or are they the same thing?

Step Button + Next Step Button (eg. [1] + [2])
This enters a tie between the two step buttons in Step Sequencer mode.
I could not figure this one out no matter how I played with it.

MANUAL + [10]
Selecting [1] thru [16] sets the ribbon controller note scale.
Playing around with this yielded nothing for me.

It is confusing for them to call it scale in this place. They're talking about the step length.

Hold down the step you want a longer length and hold down a step further down the lane and it'll make a longer note. (Can't be used for slides)

Manual 10 only changes the scale if you're using the pitch strip to play, you're using a keyboard so it does nothing.
