Midi Channel leak

Midi Channel leak

18 Oct 2013, 08:20
Hi I have an impulse 49 been using it with soft synths up til now.

Now when I got an I 7 and started to use the midi channel selector on the impulse.
I noticed that I get leakage when using any channel higher than 8!
Tested it with midi tools and every channel works OK up to 8, when I use channel 9 it leaks into 8 and the same with every channel over 8 always leaks into channel 8?

I tested with both USB midi and the Midi out from the Impulse! Same thing!

The weird thing is that this only happens on notes! when I move an slider, pot etc NO leak at all.

Must be an hardware problem with the Impulse or can it be anything else?
My midi knowledge is limited when it comes to things like this can it be driver/software issues?

I ruled out the I7 as I used the midi tools on the midi input of the impulse direct
Also the I7 works correctly when sending out of all the 16 channels via Cubase.

BTW anyone have an I7 midi device xml for cubase?

Thanks for any help
regards Martin

This may not be new info for you, but although the unit defaults to part numbers corresponding to the same midi channel, each part can be assigned whatever midi channel you wish. Is it possible that somehow parts 9-16 have all been assigned to channel 8?

Thanks for answering! I know that I can do layers/splits assign the same midi channels etc on the Integra7.But as I said I tested the impulse with midi tools it,s leaking as I stated.

when I played on the integra on a channel higher than 8 i get stuck notes due to this leakage.
it seems that the impulse sends note off like it should to the correct channel, but not the one it leaks to.
My question was a bit fuzzy, maybe someone have had the same problem and if it was fixable in anyway?

Now I change channels via Cantabile and do it with my Line 6 foot switch instead. That way I only use midi channel 1 as an input and makes Layers/splits etc on Cantabile. Maybe this was an good thing after all:)

Thanks again!
Martin

Yeah you are right! strange tough that Roland have midi device xml,s for most of their Synths JP50-JP80 included but not for the one that really needs it - A Module needs it more than a real synth in my world!

Thanks

Guys, please post information about the Novation Impulse in the "Other gear" forum. Include "Novation Impulse" in the subject line so people can find your post.

Very few people will look for information on the Impulse in this, the Integra-7 forum.

(And thanks for the update, mrgijones1!)
