V-Synth / Mainstage MIDI OUT issues

6 May 2013, 14:50
Hello everyone, I'm writing here because I've faced some issues with my V-Synth V2, Mainstage, and my USB-MIDI interface.

What I did: I've connected my V-Synth's MIDI OUT with the correct interface's cable, and the USB cable to my MacBook Pro. I started Mainstage, and loaded a preset, from the keyboard section. After this, I tried to play some keys as a test, if MIDI was working, and as I expected, sounds were coming from my Mac.

What I noticed: some midi issues. when I play a chord (for example C Mayor), I press the chord, release the keys, and some keys don't Key Off: instead of Key Off it's like they were pressed again, and only 1 key out of 3 has succesfully been released. And that's weird.
Another weird thing came out from the pitch bender: when I use it, it sends notes without Key Off! something similar with the D-Beam..

What I tried: I changed keyboard, and I used my XBOX midi keytar (from Rock Band 3), and this one doesn't have any issue with the keys release.
I connected my V-Synth with my iPad thorugh my iRig MIDI, and the issues that I explained to you are not existing.

What can I do? Do you have any solutions to my issues?

Thank you everyone,

Marco

When connecting the V-Synth to the MacBook via USB only, do you get the same errors?

Perhaps I am missing something important, but the MIDI IN should be used to control the V-Synth from a MIDI controller, interface, etc. Or do you mean you have MIDI IN and MIDI OUT connected, as an attempt to record SYSEX in your DAW and/or edit parameters on the V-Synth? If so, maybe you have a loop going on.

It's either that or the V-Synth is mistakenly using the MIDI data output on the USB cable. Is that connected to the V-Synth too...for audio?

Check the MIDI USB tab in the System menu to be what you expect. Also check KEY HOLD is OFF in the INFO menu.
