XP 60 not reading Windows XP formatted Floppy
1 Mar 2012, 22:57Hello,
I recently bought an XP-60 and also purchased a USB floppy drive from Amazon.com:
http://www.amazon.com/HDE-External-Floppy-Disk-Drive/dp/B004FLQRNO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330660461&sr=8-1
When I format a 3.5" floppy through this USB drive, XP 60 does not recognize it. When I format a floppy in XP 60, my PC (running Windows XP) does not recognize the format. The floppies are working fine. I tried formatting the floppy using the command prompt as well. My PC is formatting in FAT file system, but I also tried NTFS. Is the FAT file system not recognized by XP 60? Which format will work in XP 60? The manual does not offer any details on the format - it just says the floppy should be formatted for the XP 60.
I referenced previous postings where a few floppy drives were suggested and even an emulator was suggested. I do not believe I have the incorrect drive, it's just the format that seems incompatible. And I believe the format is a function of the XP operating system.
I am interested in loading some sound data files from other sources to my PC and then to XP 60 but without the correct format, I can't do that.
Please help!
Thanks a lot!
