Fantom XR - Control expression with CC04?
23 Feb 2012, 13:03I thought I had this figured out but it's not coming along as I expected... New Roland user here, recently picked up a secondhand XR and am trying to get things programmed...
My master controller is a Yamaha S90, which supports a second foot controller/expression pedal input which sends CC messages on CC04. What I'd like to do is program some patches on the XR to ignore normal expression messages (CC07) and instead, allow volume/expression/output level to be controlled with CC04.
I found where to disable expression messages in the patch control switch section and thought I'd found the means to assign CC04 to output level in matrix control by assigning CC04 Foot Type to OUTPUT LEVEL for all 4 tones but after setting up matrix control, CC04 seems to be controlling additional volume to the patch's general output level, i.e. with the controller at zero the patch is output at 127 and incrementing the controller just adds volume... I'm not able to pull the controller back to zero and have the XR produce zero volume.
I'm obviously not going about this the right way... can someone tell me the right way to have the XR ignore expression on CC07 and instead, have expression controlled by another CC?
