ARX-03 question - multiple parts?

ARX-03 question - multiple parts?

2 Apr 2011, 09:19
Hi Clan

Just got my ARX-03 Card today - and am having heaps of fun with it.

A quick question... is it possible to have multiple parts pointing to the ARX-03? e.g. a horns "stack" on one part - and a (say) tenor sax solo on another part?

Failing that I suppose I have to record one of the parts (say the sax solo) and then resample it to an Audio Sample - then do the next part (the horns stack).

Does anyone else have other good ideas???

Thanks Clan

Ted

Hi tedw, install two ARX's :-)

Or azzjk thizzj perzjon http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUC3vhu82Hs ,
he can play one part (from 5:00 - 5:08 , then this part continuous without fingers, and he plays another brass part over it ...) what an odd video of roland

in the end, maybe resample yes.

Thanks Jabberwocky.... yes I have seen that video.. really impressive.

Obviously he has setup a section with the baritone sax etc for the initial part of the song... which then repeats while he overlays the muted trumpets..... and then later on the horn stack on the upper half of the keboard.

Smoke n mirrors and lots of audio samples undeneath do you think?

Does any one else have comment how this can be done?

Cheers
Ted

Well, if all brass you hear is done with the ARX03 you can not do this without sampling ,
or more than one ARX03 installed (maybe even in the lower workstation he had some installed, using the external parts)

Yes... all possible options I guess.

Sounds like I will try the Resampling option given my kit.

Thanks Jabberwocky

There is an option where one instrument out from a combo can be switched to a solo mode and be played. This can be controlled and it's described somewhere in the manual. It means that you can play a combo and a solo instrument inside the same part. So, it can be done, but you can't have the same sounds, a brass combo and a solo sound (sax, and so on) at the same time for obvious reasons, unless you record a part as audio.

Forget about the youtube demonstration. It could all be sequenced before and the "playing" at 5:00 is just fake.
