s1 s2 as prog up/down?

Hiya peeps, I THINK THE TITLE SAYS IT ALL! i REALLY WANT TO BE ABLE TO USE THE S1 + S2 switches(on left near the pitch bend) as patch up + down. Is this even possible?
Thanx in advance!

When one goes into Menu - System - Sw1/Sw2 and then scroll through the menu there, what one DOES NOT see is the "Prog Up" and "Prog Down" selections. Given that these 2 selections do not exist in the SW!/SW2 file, I do not think that one can use the switches for patch up/down.

I use foot pedals to move up and down between patches/live sets. Menu - System - Keyboard - Pedals - Control 1 - set to Prog Down/UP - Control 2 - set to Prog Down/Up. This way I can switch patches/sounds during a song without taking my hands off the keyboard. For example, I might move between strings and horns several times in a song. The pedals allow me to do this.

One could also use the +/- buttons just below the wheel.

Perhaps someone else has an answer to the Sw1/2 for you that WORKS!

Hey! I found your answer helping! About the pedals and control 1 and 2. I have another question. Is it possible to do like you are writing, but instead of changing the whole live set just between diffrent sounds (parts 1-8) in the current live set?

Happy for answers! Ergo

No, that's not possible. But since you have 512 live sets, it should be enough memory to change the whole live set instead of just one part. You don't even need to use two pedals. One is enough and you can step just program up. If you need the live set that was before, just copy it to the next memory location.

Okey thank you for the answer! :) Yes after 1 hour of playing around with the fantom I realize that aswell, I can't afford to use both jacks for prog up/down anyway, I want a volumepedal there

Hi again,

Here's what I do to control the 8 voices within 1 liveset location - no pedal use here - using my left hand on the sliders and knobs.

a) Go into Menu/Knobs and Sliders
b) Assign each slider (1-8) to volume
c) Assign knob 4 to volume ( I also assign Knob 1 to Chorus, knob 2 to Tremolo and knob 3 to Reverb
d) Assign switch 1 to tremelo and slider 2 to Reverb

In any one live set, I might have 2 piano sound, 2 organ sounds, 2 strings and 2 horns

Piano sounds are ALWAYS assigned to patch 1 and 2, corresponding to sliders 1 and 2
Organ sounds are ALWAYS assigned to patch 3 and 4, corresponding to sliders 3 and 4

Same pattern for the strings (5 and 6) and horns (7 and 8).

You can choose whatever pattern you wish.

Therefore I can control the volume of each sound through the appropriate slider. I can fade the entire board sound in and out by using knob 4.

Just remember to save each liveset location for the volume values you set.

Hey! I need to ask a question, I find it extremely unpractical to waste so much space and live sets just to be able to control these things with a pedal...Is there any change to do as I explained before? like with some other kind of pedal maybe? or midi or anything?

Here's what I do to control the volume of the 8 patches within 1 liveset.

For any 1 given Liveset:

1) Go into Menu - Knobs/Sliders
2) Assign each slider (1-8) to volume
3) Assign knob 4 to volume
4) Write/Save this data for that given Liveset

When playing live, I mostly use piano/organ/strings and horns.

For this example, I am going to assign the following sounds to patches 1-4.

Patch 1 = g-grand (prst 001)
Patch 2 = dark grand (psrt 049)
Patch 3 = jl organ (prst 274)
Patch 4 = drawbar 5c (prst 310)

Write/Save this data.

To control the piano sounds (patches 1 and 2), I move the sliders to the volume needed. I might start the liveset piano volumes at 100/127 and over the course of the song, move the sliders up/down to increase/decrease the volume of the 2 piano sounds. Sliders 1 and 2 control patches 1 and 2.

To control the organ sounds (patches 3 and 4), I move sliders 3 and 4 to control the volume . Maybe I start these volumes at 90/127 and then move the sliders (3 and 4) accordingly to control patches 3 and 4.

If I have more patches in any one liveset, I keep the pattern going.

Knob 4 (set to volume) controls all 8 sliders at once. Where I need to fade out all the sounds at the end of the song, I turn the knob 4 counterclockwise to decrease the sound to fade out. I set knob 4 at 90/127 to give me the ability to decrease or increase all the patches at oonce as needed. If I need to increase all the patches' volumes, I turn knob 4 clockwise.

On an aside, I use knob 1 for chorus/ knob 2 for tremelo and knob 3 for reverb.

The external volume control (left side of the board) I generally set to 4/10 or adjust to where the sound man needs it. I do not touch the slider/knob settings.

No pedal work here, just your left hand adjusting the volumes when needed.
