@G-Man
I don't agree that those features are already there. I'm aware of the general transpose function but that's not specific to a song. One should be able to transpose an individual song and save the changed version without having to mess around with global settings.
I'm aware that the end point can be edited. That's what I have to do now: duplicate the sample and edit the copy to the end point that I want. Trouble is, that means all the different copies of the same sample have to be loaded in RAM when a project is loaded, thereby delaying start-up time. A method of specifying playback duration on the individual insert entry in song edit would be more helpful, in my opinion. It would be a lot quicker.
The song utility is fine for what it does, but it doesn't cover the scenario I'm interested in because it only works in whole measures. The sort of editing I mean goes to mere fractions of a measure.
But the sample issue isn't a killer, more a matter of convenience, because there is a workaround, as you've outlined.
The file management issue is extremely important to me and quite a few other people too. I can certainly say that it's put people off buying the Fantom-G, if they were aware of it in time to change their purchasing plans. On some occasions, it's been me that's pointed it out to them and for that I make no apologies. I can only recommend a product if it's up to scratch and the Fantom-G's file management system falls far short of that in a way that is a major inconvenience to many potential users. Without forewarning, they wouldn't discover the issue for a few months into owning it, but then they would likely regret their purchase. Enabling easier movement of the data would make a difference, though, even if the utility didn't achieve all of the things I would like.
