Hip-Hop Producers: Can we get a Head Count?

Hip-Hop Producers: Can we get a Head Count?

22 Jun 2010, 13:50
I'm curious as to how many Hip-Hop producers there are on the forum. From what I can tell there is much diversity when it comes to musical genres here in the Roland Clan. But how many of you produce Hip-Hop music, also what is your weapon of choice?

For me, its the Fantom-S and the XR.

I think Hip Hop Producers abandoned Roland once they knew Roland had abandoned them... You won't find too many anymore... :) There are way better machines out there for them...

Ya know, thats unfortunate. Because true Hip-Hoppers understand that in the beginning, there were NO machines geared toward this music. Somebody had to take what was out there and make it Hip-Hop. Now you have classic machines like the SP 12 that are synonymous with the music. To me this is the essence of the culture. Making something out of nothing.

Im a hip-hop producer,i also make all kinds of musical pieces it all depends on the sounds im using, but my passion is hip-hop and Hard rap Beats with dope sounds. The fantom g is great in my opinion for making Beats.
All though some stick with korg stuff.
it seems to me that hip-hop and rap to most people are the same type of music, real hip-hop is sampled stuff..artist like atmosphere, jedi mind tricks ect... Rap is three six lilwayne ect...
What i produce is kinda in the middle of the 2 sometimes,i sample some stuff depending on the style of drum kit im messin with, but will add new age sounds to the mix at times.
All in All its All good lol

The Korg sound got played out back in the 90's. Because everybody and their mother had a Triton. In today's age you have to go with a FG or Motif to get a different sound. Preferably a Fantom because you can easily create sounds and come with you own unique flavor. And I'm glad you acknowledged the difference b/w Hip-Hop and Rap. Because most people think its all the same.
