Fantom XR USB Midi Problem

22 Nov 2009, 18:07
Hi there, when I´m trying to start Fantom XR Editor the following message appears:

"It appears that the Fantom X is unconnected or connected incorrectly.
Please check the connections."

I´ve checked the connections many times, but it still will not work.
Who can help me to find out what´s wrong?
No other USB Devices in the PC.

Thanks a lot & and the best from germany

An outside chance this might help:

One time, after I had been using many USB devices, I started getting this error. It doesn't matter what is connected at the time; it matters how many drivers have been loaded over the course of using the PC.

If this sounds like something you might have triggered, by using lots of USB keys, cameras, etc. then Google how to view and remove unused USB device drivers. It involves going into the CMD mode, typing a command to see hidden devices, and then running Device Manager and View Hidden Devices. You will not see them by just going to the regular Device Manager.

Is your Fantom XR in STORAGE mode?
Or in Editor have you set up MIDI Devices?

I have try , and try and try...
And I was so upset of this bug...
Because the editor is so good, and I use it almost everyday, the fact that this error was shown only at some performances was enoughing.
But I found out what was the problem.
It is very simple, and very natural.
Is there something that the fantom-x/r has not editable?
Yes! The GM patches are NOT editable.
So., here it is the problem...
If you have, any kind of GM patches, or Drum Kits in your Performances, when the editor is at that track , it will give you that error:
"It appears that the Fantom X is unconnected or connected incorrectly.
Please check the connections."
God, I hate this error...
Anyway, I have change, all the patches that are GM with something from Preset/User/Card and that problem was GONE.
I have try to change again to one GM, and here it was, the error.
So, every one, change the GM to other preset/user/card patch, and the problem is solved.
As I said, it it is normal to the editor to have this error, because, the GM is not editable, and when the editor try to analize the GM patch, it get's nothing... so it goes:
"It appears that the Fantom X is unconnected or connected incorrectly.
Please check the connections." ;)
Do not ever be ashamed of what you are, what you feel, and what you think. The truth hurts, but it is necessary.
