G7 as Studio Controller

G7 as Studio Controller

29 Oct 2009, 18:04
Have only used the G7 for several months and, inspite of the ligitimate crits found here, find it a great studio controller as well as sound source.

I prefer to work with a diverse pallete of sound generating hardware and software and the G has become another ‘go to’ sound source. For me, the most impressive part of the G is the screen and screen related software. There is so much info at your fingertips (as opposed to the X series.) Would think anyone would have to admit the large screen and layout is extremely easy on the eyes.

Originally found a ggod price on a floor model and purchased the G7 on a whim to replace my X7 in a live situation. After spending time learning the operating system, I realized it would benifit me more by using it as studio tool/controller. The X7 and X6 still do my gig just fine. The G7 has become mt studio centerpiece.

Would likely have an idle G7 too if I had a G8 as well. ;-) Which came first the 7 or 8?
Chicken or the egg question, there.

G8 came first... then ran out of polyphony while laying piano's so was looking for a VPiano... no one in our area had them. got a great deal on the G7 and made a duplicate of my G8 as far as sounds (including ARX03) so i have double the polyphony. yay! :D

then VPiano came out... tried it, loved it. then bought it... been playing that all summer while playing with my other hobby (car). so i haven't played my G8 either since July. hahaha.

when snow hits my cars hibernate and i will play more G8/G7. :p
