Fantom G sounds unlimited (Resampler)

This sounds awesome, Jim. Thanks for alerting us to it.

Two questions:
1) Does it work with hardware synths as well as softsynths? That is, could I use it to extract a couple of patches from one of my modules to avoid having to take an extra piece of kit to a gig?

2) Will it work with the Fantom X?

Cheers

According to what I understand, you need both Resampler and YASE to do the complete conversion. That is, Resampler can turn a virtual or real MIDI synth into a multisampled patch in YASE format, and YASE can transfer this patch to your Fantom.

Jim Knopf:

So: from my view no legal issues involved at all for people who respect the basic rules...

That's not the point I was making. So let me be more specific...

Example: Michael Acosta found a guy in Europe a couple of years ago who had resampled the entire Fantom-X and was SELLING the entire sound set, as a ready-made multi-sampled project on line. Mike turned the website into our lawyers who promptly shut the dude down.

Hope that is perfectly clear to you Jim about our stance.

Now the big sampling space of 1 GB in connection with fast USB loading times in the G really begins to shine! It is as if this hardware had originally been designed to be capable of such things.

Bingo!

Again, we at RUS are thrilled with the efforts of those at Nexoe.

Ok, not so easy to leave the thread and posting again ;-)
So just to put things clear:

@Andy Keys: yes, it is possible to resample Fantom X sounds, just like those from any midified keyboard with a line out.

@Dan Krischer:

I wrote:
"It seems to me that two things are essential:
- a) you should only use sounds you really own (as software or hardware)
- b) you should only make personal use of the sounds."

As b) excludes commercial (mis)use, I see no leagal issues involved at all for those, who respect these two rules.

I think so far all is clarified now. Everybody enjoy the sounds you need for your music and have a good time!

I guess you can answer all remaining questions among each other and without me...

@billw
YASE Problem "crashes when leaving an editor", esp. in Vista - fixed.

@All
The new version Fantom YASE™ 2.003.001 has an interesting new feature: the automatic enumeration/renaming of samples. Simply select a collection of samples in the Fantom Memory List and press CTRL+N, follow the instructions.

Best - Jens.

"the automatic enumeration/renaming of samples"

How does that work?

Will that help me to easily decide which samples in my Fantom G are not assigned to a multisample...so that I can delete them?

And will it help me move them to the top of the list easily without loosing association with the multisample patch?

Am I dreaming?

>JimKnopf,

I meant will it allow me to create multisamples to use in my Fantom X, rather than will it make samples from it :o)

I've read the webpage, and seeing as Yase states it works with the Fantom-X the answer should be yes, it does.

@MadaHorn:
No, the issue was to rename the "sample name" (the name what is shown in the display of the device).
You cannot easily change a sample from one slot to another one inside the Fantom, because the link to multisamples as well as patches would be destroyed.

But you aren't dreamin' MadaHorn, because in order to reorganize samples (i.e. to the top) you can do is a simple other thing:
1. Export the patch / multisample with YASE, which contains the sample(s) to be reorganized.
2. Initialize the patch (with deleting the samples).
3. Import the patch again to this patch number - the samples can now be new assigned to slots (i.e. via Drag& Drop).
Best - Jens.

Thanks Je!

If I follow what you say, I should be able to get my Trumpet multisamples off the ground pretty soon after all!

(I would say Brass, but right now it is just many different trumpet samples- trills, shakes, falls, vibrato etc.)

True :)

MadaHorn you are right - exporting/importing multisamples is the best way to do this job.
YASE checks for every sample if it is still in use by another multisample (or patch). So if not all samples are deleted after exporting the multisample please check if there are some skeletons in the cupboard yet :)
Means if other multis still refer to the sample --> BTW this was a mistake I made: I wondered why not all samples disapperaed - and the reason was a very old multisample at the upper positions...

New Feature added: Marking of assigned multisamples/samples

18 Jun 2009, 18:54
@all
We implemented an interesting new feature into Fantom YASE™s Patch Editor: if you select a patch (or multisample) with the right mouse click you can now choose a function "Show Dependencies" from the pull-down menu.
The aim is to mark all external (USER/CARD) samples and/or multisamples of a patch. The intention came while discussing in this thread :-)

Please download the newest version 2.003.002, see you at "www.nexoe.de".

Best Regards - Jens.
