FantomX/VS2000CD Combo

FantomX/VS2000CD Combo

16 Apr 2004, 08:54
I finally received my X6 this past saturday, still going thru the manuals. What a nice keyboard, so many features... I am having abit of trouble getting the midi to work with my vs2000cd mtr (still reading manual on it also). Just wonderin' if anyone has this combo and have any tips to pass along. Just a thought, the fantom x would be nice if it had the vs20 vga capabilities like the vs2000cd. I also must admit I feel alittle overwhelmed by both units at this time.

Good Day!!

New FX AND new VS2000!!!
:-)

Must be an awesome combination.
Keep us informed about how well they get on with each other

I don't think you well get many tips - you must be one of the first to get both these!

No Sir not at all, thanks to ebay I sold all of my old stuff plus some books, dvd's etc to finance my new gear (basically I had an online garage sale). My wife still doen't know the total cost yet, she would have a serious tizzy fit. I still have one more piece to add... the vs20 vga card then I am DONE!! The VS2000cd is a feature ladened machine also, Mr. Lawrence this combo in your hands, Artemio's or some of the more experienced artist here would be something to hear & see, unfortunately I am a very frustrated "Newb,Rookie,Novice etc. flipping thru pages of manuals in my spare time at home and at work. I probably should have purchased the vs got comfy with it then the x...oh well we live and learn.

You made a great choice there. If I didn't already have 2 Apple computers, I would have also bought the VS2000CD as well after seeing the demonsration and messing with it at the Sounds Expo.

I've got some Ebay clearing to do too. :)

Fantom-X8/VS2480 Combo

I feel your pain!

I have a VS2480 and brand new Fantom-X8.

Learning curves on both of these units are huge...

As far as MIDI Sync... I had to play around with the settings on my 2480 to get it to work.

Make the VS the master... I am not sure if it was MTC or ??? I used... but try one setting... see if it works... if not... try another.

Right now I have the tempo on the Fantom-X set to midi and controlled by my VS. I edit the pulsating synth patches and set the temp to sync... so these patches are also in sync with my 2480's tempo... in addition to the patterns and the sequencer.

I am at work right now, and a newbie for both units... so can't really give you more details at this time.

I started playing around with the sequencer a bit... and since I am not much into sequencing everything all at once... I plan on using the sequencer like this:

Record a few measures of the part I am working on into the sequencer... (could take a few tries to get it right)... then tweak it with quantize function, and other types of editing...

Then, play the sequenced part, synced perfectly... into my 2480... while I record it.

Unfortunately... there are not enough hours in the day!

So much to learn and so little time.

If you are not a member of VSPlanet.com... you should be.

Newb Question - Hissing

30 Apr 2004, 20:12
Hey Brett,

I am experiencing alot of hiss from my sony mdr7506 headphones when I am plugged into to vs using balanced & unbalanced cable. When I use coax everything clears up is this normal? And yes I am a spacecadet, pretty much hang out on the 2480 board...more info there.
