SRX Cards - Which one?

SRX Cards - Which one?

10 Nov 2008, 15:56
I would like to ask the opinion of users which card out of either the SRX 03 "STUDIO"....SRX 07 "ULTIMATE KEYS".....OR the GR 01 represents the best value?

As we can only put one card into the G70 I want it to be the best overall card.

The focus for me has to be guitars (especially electric/od+dist) and basses...The keys on the G70 are pretty much okay.

Thanks

If you're mostly into solo parts and need great synths, synth basses, pads, organs and electric pianos, then Ultimate Keys is your choice. Studio SRX is more for a studio composer that makes soundtracks and jingles. I'd take Ultimate Keys if I were you, in any case, because there are enough of instrumental and live drum kits in the G70 already.

Thanks Artemiy..

I am trying to get better guitars and basses for midi files I use.

I play all the live keyboard parts, but the guitars on the G70, are okay but not as good as say the Motif ES/XS series.

Heard that best acoustic guitars are on the SRX-03. Other than that, I'm an inch away from buying a SRX-07 myself (and that would be my first SRX card).

SRX-7 is my favourite SRX Cards. You can find few beautiful padded acoustic gtrs, few electric and distorced gtrs. But the best sounds are for keyboards, organs, basses, pads and leads.

If you are looking at which one has more selection then you may also want to look at the stats worked out by javaj and listed on this thread. When designing the G a decision was made by Roland as to how many waves of each SRX card to add to the G. They added 221 waves from SRX07 to the Fantom G whereas they only added 56 from SRX03.

Separate from sheer statistics you should also listen to the SRX demos though and see which card you think would suit your playing style.
