Fantom X 2 questions need help please

1) I have an external sound module now if I want to use the sounds from the module in a sequence on the fantom do I record the sounds in via audio or is there a way through midi There are some good drum and ep patches on there. Sorry for the lame question but I am new to the whole midi thing after years of trying to avoid it.

2) Can anybody recommend me a good free soundfont or similar that I can transfer onto the fantom. I am looking for acoustic piano and acoustic guitar patches plus some saxes etc. Money being very tight these need to be freeware.

answer to 1) Do you REALLY need to record the external sounds into a fantom x audio track? You can do it that way.

I do it differently. I record the notes that play the external gear onto a fantom x track(fantom track 15 to external module midi channel 15 for example), and when the song plays back you hear external gear via the MIX IN of fantom. However, I use a DAW to record the resulting song, if you're JUST using the fantom to create songs then recording to the fantom audio tracks is the way to go for you.

2) stock fantom patches not good enough? "Ultimate Grand" is fairly decent in my book as well as that "nylon string guitar" patch, which I have used in a few songs....very realistically. GOOGLE is your friend, lotsa free stuff out there. good luck

Hi thanks for the response. I really do like the ultimate grand much better than the JG grand it's just a never satisfied me thing. i have just discovered multisampling and I am addicted to seeing what is out there.
