Fantom Sample Problem

Fantom Sample Problem

I have a sampling problem with my Fantom-Xa, hoping anyone can solve this puzzle.

I added 17 new samples today all in mono so as to save memory space on my compact flash card, however it takes 20 mins to load in 378 samples. I have made up my multisample sets as you do.

But... the problem is the last 17 samples (only 02-08 seconds long) dont play at the proper speed, they play much faster and can only be remedied by going into sample list and marking those 17 samples and assigning their origin keys and re-saving the samples and then it's okay.

I have to do this everytime i turn on the Xa! The other 362 samples play just fine without problems.

I have a 512mb memory board inside and i use a 512mb compactflash card, and have 9.4mb left to spare on the card.

I'm at a loss as to what could be causing this ?

Have you tried the FAQ on this site?

Also try the great tutorials on the Roland US site. They should be able to get you sorted out. There is about 11 of them in total, they are for the Fantom X but the sampling section should also be relevant to the fantom Xa.

yeah i had a look at the tutorials, my problem isn't covered in the sampling one. it seems to be another issue of sorts ?

I'm surprised you lived with 20 minutes loading time for long enough to discover this problem! The FX might not be the keyboard for you, and I know from personal experience how disheatening that thought is after the hours of building and crafting your sample arsenal on the FX.

Is it possible you have the samples both in user and card ram and the patch is accessing the wrong one? Also, try saving these 17 new samples to a new card and see if they play correctly from there. Might help determine if the problem is the samples themselves or something else.

Cheers,
B

the FX might not be keyboard for me LOL, i've had it for over a year and it's fine for me, i bought the X6 when it came out and i didnt like it. and downgraded to the Xa instead.

the problem is now remedied i forgot what to do, and now it all came back to me.

I had to import samples first > then assign origin key to each samlple > mark them > save them > then create multisample > then write multisample.

20 minutes to load everytime you turn it on? Its your time, waste it as you wish...

what planet are you on B...

of course, the samples have to load from the card to the onboard 512mb board, i have over 800 samples to load in to form my 16 multisample mellotron sets....
