Selecting the right Monitor

Selecting the right Monitor

6 Jul 2007, 04:48
Hello,

I am planning to buy monitors for my computer-based home studio. I found these two Monitor Speakers while browing.

I would like to know your views if anyone of you have ever tested these or using them.

EDIROL - MA-15D Digital Stereo Micro Monitor

BEHRINGER - Digital Monitor Speakers MS40

Are the S/PDIF Optical & Coaxial Inputs good? :-|

Thanks

Visham.

YES. The digital coaxial input on the MA 15 D speakers works very well.

I own a set of these, and I'm impressed. They compare favorably with the older DS 50 speakers, of which I used to own a pair as well. Assuming that you plan to use these for close, personal monitoring -- what engineers use as nearfiled monitors -- then they have plenty of raw power.

Your ears will tell you if you like them, but they are plenty powerful, and they didn't seem to reveal any noise, especially with the digital cable connected. I use, right now, an M-Audio FireWire Solo connected to my MacBook Pro. I'm hoping to buy a Receptor, to which the digital cable can also be connected.
