patch tone copy help?

I get a very cool sounding guitar patch when just playing through "patch" mode.
How do I get that exact sound in my song that i load up. I'm in mix mode, I've tried going to the patch mode and copying the tone. No luck.
What is the easy way of copying the patch sound into my song mixer so it sounds the same?
