Psychology ?

I don't get it some times... I had no problem purchase an X6 $2100 or my recent V $1200. I can even see myselves getting an MV8800 .. but buying a pair of good Monitors ... I don't feel like spending money on monitors even though I know that it's a vital piece of equipment. Maby I just can't see the benefit or the fun in 'playing' with monitors? Maby if there were more knobs, bells and whistles ? My gear-junky nerv rather go MV than monitor. But I need monitors...

I think I coud have use for a shrink here or does beers?

No question, good monitors are probably the most crucial components of the studio equipment. Better monitors usually result in better mixes. Nobody argues with that. But still, the importance of overpriced and overhyped monitors IMHO are somewhat exaggerated. I believe what really matters is how well you know your monitors (whatever they are), how intimately familiar you are with their sonic capabilities and "personality". This will give you an ability to extrapolate what you hear to different sound systems and produce universally acceptable mixes. It's more about learning curve, trained ear and experience rather than price and hype...

Now that you've got a shrink's opinion, you can safely proceed to BEER DOESING.
