WAIT NOTE and REPLACE issues

When I'm realtime recording on my X8 using the WAIT NOTE and REPLACE settings, sometimes the recording does not start at the beginning of the measure but a beat or two later. Is this a known bug? Or am I missing something?
Also, sometimes the recording does not actually replace what was previously there if though I set it to REPLACE. Does anyone else have this issue?
It's strange because these things do not happen all the time, just once in a while. So perhaps, I am am not aware of something I should be doing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

r u hitting the reset button to the left of the arrows before starting your recording?

Yeah, if I'm recording at the beggining, but sometimes I just use the left or right arrows when want to record elsewhere.

So what ur saying is that I may have stopped the song in the middle of a measure and then started recording with wait note at that point and not at the beginning of the measure?

Don't the left and right arrows take you to the beginning of the measure?
