How difficult is it to hook up a Roland V-Drum set to the Fantom X8 in order to record drum tracks?

Also is it possible to achieve this without buying the module? Can I hook everything up directly to the Fantom and sort it out that way?

I have the roland TD 12 module on a hart dynamic 6.4 kit. It is very easy to connect the two. You can either midi connect or use the left and right audio (trs)output on the TD 12 and connect to the fantom input.
The drum sounds in the TD are great and many are already in the fantom.
