Bassman ,

I am back here in the US now. (not by choice)

As far as my last post..its what you can say when someone crowds you in a public rest room when there is obviously plenty of space....

But I am here not to start a fight.......I just wish I had extra dollars to pick up an Oasys..just because.
Weapons of Mass Destruction: Nuendo 4, MPC 5K, Fantom G

I try 2 hours the oasys and sorry but the sound is not by far superior to a fantom x,a motif es..etc..just different! It sounds like my triton extreme with a better acoustic set,a va,a fabulous screen and karma technology!
I think it s the best workstation in the world but not a good deal at this price..
In france, for the oasys price you have for example:
1 fantom x,1 motif es rack, the new virus ti,and a yamaha aw2400...and maybe 1 used karma on ebay!
my choice is done....and everybody can make his personnal set with so much money..
We just have to wait for a price divided by 2 and it will be the best deal after!

to be honest, the oasys wasnt out of my budget but i decided not to by it!And for having the best sound,i think personnally we have to buy some different synths with different sounds, not the more powerful or expensive synth!

OK.. I'm still a newbe..around here..But I feel that Roland is the Sony of eletronics in the music buz. ...I'm a guitar player at heart...
In 1991 my life changed forever with the GR1 Roland guitar synth. Wow. Now I have a Buttload of Roland products in my studio. From speakers to recorders(2480)...
But guys you owe it to yourselfs...to check this Korg out....I'm still learning my Fantom X6....But OMG...I think this is the bomb to come. BOMB.
I spent one hour in Sam Ash playing this thing...Not enough I know....I watched every video on the net about this ANIMAL.
The power is endless. the KARMA part is one of the best parts.... of this ANIMAL...I have already started selling my few PRS guitars...so I can prepare to snag one of these keyboards... I agree with one statement here...some of us can afford this....But here is the real question...
ARE YOU READY FOR THE NEXT LEVEL... because this is it...
Glenn

My apologies to all Korg lovers because....

Roland Rules!!

I just spent some quality time with the Oasis. I'm sorry. I wasn't blown away! For $9000 (Can.) I want an intuitive instrument with warm, fat, rich, realistic sounding instrumentation, and the Oasis does not deliver.
IMHO I do have to say that the audio production tools and synthesis aspect of the keyboard offer some interesting creative possibilities. However, I found that most of the time, when working with sounds like piano, strings, acoustic or electric guitar, woodwinds, brass ect. it did not compare with Roland at all!!
The keyboard felt cheap! It comes shipped with 2 manuals, one of which is 3 and a half inches thick! (with no index to help locate individual functions)
I say, stick with Roland and enjoy the value and amazing expressive sounds they deliver with their keyboards ......spend the money you save on a quality computer with great audio and/or audio-video production software like Cakewalk's Sonar 5 Producer Edition, and you're laughin'!

Just my 2 cents (Canadian)..... which, come to think of it, isn't worth very much!! lol

Lets see i want to express myself without pissing anyone off... to put it simple each keyboard has good and bad things, strong and weak feature... when u look at anything not just musical intruments it has its pros and cons... I really havnt played on the Oasys a lot.. i sat down for a couple of minutes at Guitar Center to play on it... it had some pretty awsome sounds...I didnt come around to look for features like effects or patching and setting up instrumentation but im sure it has some sick features... I own a Kurzweil K2600XS and a Yamaha S90. Both Keyboards are great the K2600 can do so much with effects and patching sounds together etc. the Yamaha has some awsome sounds that I use through the magic of MIDI and control it on my K2600... As for people saying its too expensive...not true... when i bought my Kurzweil it was going for 5 grand or somethng like that... i got a deal at guitar center for the display kurzweil for 2 grand...yep... and i got my yamaha for 2 grand aswell plus i got a band discount... so it all came out to around 4 grand... The Oasys is a little expensive but i think it is worth it just look at Jordan Rudess he was using a Kurzweil K2600XS, Korg Karma, 2 Kurzweil K2600R, Triton Rack... since then he's replaced the K2600XS as his main controller and replaced it with a Korg Oasys... he still uses a K2600XS but has cut down on using so many racks and hauling so many keyboards because the Oasys can do it all... so basically and Oasys and a Kurzweil K2600XS are replacing his K2600XS, 2 K2600R, Triton Rack, Korg Karma... all the korg sounds and features are already on the Oasys... If it were up to me i'd have a Kurzweil K2600AES($20,000)...basically a K2600XS on steroids with every Kurzweil sound library and tons of RAM and ROM memory, CD ROM etc ...A Korg Oasys(which is basically from what i've heard all of korgs keyboards put together into one and then some)... a Nord and a couple of Motif Racks fully loaded.... why not unit everthing and have the ultimate keyboard set up... the best of all worlds... is there a downside?? hell yes that a lot of freakin equiment to haul around lol... Keyboards rule people!!!

I had another good look at the Kurzweil K2661 yesterday and to me it is fantastic. It sounds so real and powerful. To have the K2661 with my fantom x is all I want as far as hardware is concerned. The Oasys I think has a P4 chip in it and if this is true then I will never pay more than 2000 for PC and controller.

*Cough*... VariPhrase, COSM and Vocal Designer anyone?
That's what I'm screaming--- the korg repackaged their dropped and unsupported card version of this for computer- who's repackaging what now? That's what I though.... Not roland- The new little VA is a piece of the v and so is the vocoder keyboard, but at least they never abandoned people who bought the origional stuff just to take the same technology and repackage it under linux based pc with a freaking midi contrller attached to it with an lcd monitor- pretty much throwing salt in the wounds of the origional oasys card owners who were left to their own deviced- now that's bullshit- fuck korg- I've never like a piece of gear they made (well besides my old dw8000- that was a nice hybrid synthesizer at the time).

They make a mean guitar tuner -- the CA-30, less than $20.
