New Fantom-X update???

C'mon ... we all don't have to be poster boys for Roland or the Fatnom X ... if anybody does a search on Diametro and Fantom X they can see plenty of posts by me gushing about my Fantom X7 ...

but the more I use it -- and other synths -- the more I discover ridiculous inflexiblities or archaic solutions that CAN and SHOULD BE fixed in the operating system ... Remember, this is a FLAGSHIP synth ... this has to represent the best of what Roland has on offer in the workstation arena ...

no self-respecting synth manufacturer -- or one that wants to maintain a loyal user base willing to upgrade their products... should be finished with an opering system until there are no software limitations other than those imposed by the hardware ...

I'd reccommend a Fatnom X over a Triton Extreme or Motif ES any day ... but that doesn't mean Roland's work is done yet on this beast we call the Fantom X ...

As for the Fantom X not being the best synth for me -- which I most thoroughly disagree with you about -- what do you reccommend instead?

Now I am glad...

That's why my initial post was asking about when Roland was going to Fix/Upgrade/Modify and release a new OS version for the Fantom X.

I agree that improvements are indeed needed for the current version and that's what's this is about. (Hoping that Roland can see and hurry in updating the OS)

I do not know what kind of music you produce... but just knowing you like to tweak things arround point me to something like the V-Synth or the SH-201.

Please do me a favor an post a list of updates you think roland should add/modify into a new OS update.

I'll start with the simple Font display bug.

Yeah, a V-Synth would be nice ... but I already have two synths comparable to a SH-201.

However, everyone needs a workstation and I especially need something that can play "realistic" sounds like orchestras, horns and acoustic drums. Just because they are samples at heart doesn't mean they can't be synthesized in an interesting fashion. And the Fantom does, but it's difficult to access that power during a performance due to lack of real-time controllers -- four is not enough.

Look at the Fantom ... much of it screams performance ... the pads, the live settings, the knobs it does have ... D-Beam. People who are buying a workstation like the Fantom want as much of that as possible --- in addition to the standard stuff like sequencing and sampling.

They want ribbon controllers, twin D-Beams, more real-time controllers, X-Y pads.

Well, that's what I want anyway.
