it was a hard choice to make. i'm still waiting on getting the program, but i have the demo and it sold me on going this route. and it is easy enough to hook up a midi control and have all the keys and nob you want. reaktor has a lot of flexibility and i mainly want it to create unheard of sound. both the v and reaktor can do this but i need a comp. anyways.
plus, it matches all my other gear. (just joking)

"plus, it matches all my other gear. (just joking)"..... Yeah right man, haha. My emu 1616 matches my Sony vaio, which matches with my wavestation and my v-synth and my bcr2000. I wish I could say I was joking, but I'm a sucker for sleek black gear with alot of led's... now I feel like a fuckin dork. Anyway, I would have gone with the computer in your situation too... well I suppose it's good that you are actually waiting for the prog rather than picking up a crack... last year I had finally rid my computer of a thousand cracked programs that did nothing but sidetrack me... I never really learned any of them in depth.... I finally just broke down and picked up reaktor cubase and kontakt as well as a few choice vst's.... It's a hell of alot more than I could possibly need for a few years until something that REALLY catches my ears comes along (which isn't too often). Man I'm a gear whore...

Well I'll be your huckleberry....
