EX System Update 1.02 is out!

WOW, after almost a year has passed, Roland did do something really BIG for the Fantom EX and its owners: the new update 1.02 !!!

The following has been fixed/added:

wait for it...

"The default value for Auto Off has been changed to 20 minutes. "

That´s it.

WOW.WOW! WOW!! I´m speechless :(....

It´s really hard to believe that Roland released an update JUST for this. Maybe I´m too gullible and thinking way too good about Roland´s product commitment (especially to the Fantom, as said in an interview), but what if this update contains some changes they don´t wanna tell about because some new and groundbreaking expansion is coming soon? Why an update for just the auto off option?? I don´t get it - there MUST be more!?!? If not, this might really mark the end of the Fantom Flagship support. Hard to believe after 5 years, especially if there´s still so much potential in this product - guess in 2 or 3 years time a new Fantom model might come...

Not to be negative, but IMHO Fantom EX is already forgotten by Roland R&D.

If so, this would be really a bad decision by Roland, because everyone who bought the Fantom EX (new hardware version) for 3500+ should definitely get some updates & bug fixes for 2-3 years. So it must be quite frustrating for those customers. It´s different with the Fantom Software EX upgraders, though. I can´t tell that my Fantom from 2019 wasn´t taken care of enough...Just wondering, if the Hardware EX version selling numbers were so low that it flopped, because one could easily get a used Fantom for half the price and invest 200 in the upgrade.

All in all, the Fantom EXs do also deserve some more support and Roland should not discontinue its commitment to this great instrument.

Well, going from 30 to 20 means 10 minutes less.

So Roland is going greener by the minutes...

You have set that screen to turn off after 30 seconds

Perhaps there are bug fixes that they don't want to admit to, such as the hanging when playing with a drum track and then it suddenly catches up with a bunch of fast notes. I haven't tried it yet.

Don't get me wrong. My speculation takes place after having experienced how Roland deals (and has been dealing) with its products. By the way, Fantom 2019 upgraded to EX is the same as the (new) Fantom EX, thus the bugs we experience on our "old" instruments are the same on the "new" Fantoms. I'm expecting, at least, that when I send sys-ex strings, while I'm editing an ACB part, the instrument doesn't crash and must rebooted, loosing al the work done. I'd expect that the sampling section and the sample management were less primitive. Just to name the few.
